International Marine Management (IMM) delivers European-level refit, project management, and technical services from strategically located Caribbean shipyards with facilities in Guadelopue, Sint Maarten and Puerto Rico and operating well beyond with its mobile teams.

FKG Marine provides advanced technical solutions across marine, mechanical, industrial, and architectural sectors, with a strong focus on hands-on problem solving. Its primary areas of focuse are metal fabrication, hydraulics and rigging.

Meet Davon Halley, Head of Accounting at Dockside Management

Supporting every smooth yacht operation is a strong administrative and financial support. At Dockside Management, that support is led by Davon Halley, Head of Accounting, whose role combines accuracy, adaptability, and a deep understanding of the fast-moving yachting industry.

From Banking to Yachting

Davon began his career in banking, where his interest in numbers and financial analysis laid a solid foundation for his professional journey. While the structure of banking suited his analytical mindset, he was drawn towards a more hands-on environment, one where financial expertise directly supports busy operations.

That opportunity came in 2021, when Davon joined the Dockside Accounting team. The transition allowed him to apply his financial background to the dynamic world of yachting, an industry that demands extreme rigor and flexibility.

“The role combines structured financial work with the fast-paced, demanding nature of yachting. It’s challenging, but incredibly rewarding.”

Accounting in a Fast-Paced Industry 

Yachting accounting is far from traditional. Managing a high volume of time-sensitive transactions, often across multiple jurisdictions, requires exceptional organization, attention to detail, and clear communication.

For Davon, one of the biggest challenges is balancing strict financial controls with the realities of an industry where vessels are constantly on the move with clients that are exigent.

“Expenses are operationally driven and often urgent. Accuracy depends heavily on the quality of information we receive, so strong communication with captains, crew, and vendors is essential.”

Through clear documentation, proactive follow-ups, and strong internal processes, Davon ensures accuracy, compliance, and efficiency, without slowing down operations.

Supporting Clients Through Teamwork

A smooth client experience can’t end on the front lines but must continue with the behind-the-scenes support. Davon and his team focus on clear communication, consistency, and reliability, setting expectations early and staying responsive throughout every stage of the client experience.

Collaboration across departments is key. Whether handling urgent requests or navigating tight deadlines, the accounting team works closely with operations to ensure clients feel supported and informed at all times.

“There are moments when the team really comes together to prioritize urgent requests outside normal workflows. Those situations highlight our commitment to service and our ability to adapt.”

Beyond the Numbers

Outside the office, Davon values balance. When he’s not working , you’ll likely find him at sea or on the beach, recharging and enjoying time with family and friends. Staying active and maintaining a healthy work-life balance helps him stay focused and energized at work.

For those new to the industry, Davon’s advice is simple:

“Be open to learning and don’t be afraid to ask questions. Stay organized, adaptable, and detail-oriented, and build strong relationships with your team.”
