Meet Kaitlyn Libier, Head of Provisioning, Purchasing & Logistics
In the fast-paced world of yachting, operations are often judged by what doesn’t happen: no delays, no errors, no friction, no stress. To arrive at that level of execution requires a team working diligently with foresight, intelligence and efficiency. At Dockside Management, that responsibility sits with the Provisioning, Purchasing & Logistics (PPL) department, led by Kaitlyn Libier.
A Natural Path into Operations
Kaitlyn’s journey into provisioning and logistics wasn’t linear, but it was intentional in its evolution. With a background rooted in high-performance environments where execution is non-negotiable, she naturally gravitated toward the operational core of the yachting industry.
“Provisioning and logistics sit right at the center of everything,” she explains. “It’s where detail, timing, and accountability all meet.”
Today, as Head of PPL, Kaitlyn oversees a complex network of sourcing, coordination, and delivery across St Maarten & the Caribbean, ensuring every request is executed exactly as expected.
Balancing Planning with Real-Time Execution
No days look the same. Kaitlyn and her team operate across multiple islands, managing tight timelines and constantly shifting variables.
“It is a balance between pre-planning and reacting in real time,” she says. “We have to have the rigorousness and rigidity to keep things as planned and the flexibility to manage all the curveballs we are thrown – whether those come from transport companies, clients or external suppliers. We are coordinating multiple moving parts simultaneously, often under pressure. The objective is simple: everything delivered seamlessly, without adding stress to the client.”
The ability to operate at speed without compromising service is what defines the department’s success.
The Standard: No Margin for Error
At this level of yachting, expectations are uncompromising. For Kaitlyn, that’s exactly what makes the work rewarding.
“There’s no margin for error, and that’s the point. Anyone can place an order, but delivering everything correctly, on time, and to the expected standard is where the real work is.”
Behind every successful delivery lies a clear process: trusted supplier relationships, strict quality control, and an unwavering attention to detail.
“If it doesn’t meet expectations, it doesn’t go onboard,” she adds.
Navigating Complexity Across Islands
Operating between St Barths and St Maarten presents its own set of challenges. Inter-island logistics, customs regulations, product availability, and timing all play a role and even the smallest delay can have a ripple effect.
“You have to think ahead constantly,” Kaitlyn explains. “And you always need a backup for your backup.”
While planning is critical, adaptability is equally important.
“You plan as much as you can and then you deal with reality. Things change, and you must respond quickly without losing focus.”

Delivering a Seamless Client Experience
For captains and crew, provisioning and logistics should feel effortless. That simplicity, however, is the result of careful coordination behind the scenes.
“What clients value most is reliability and ease,” Kaitlyn says. “They want to know that once they’ve made a request, it’s handled.”
Managing expectations plays a key role in achieving that trust.
“I don’t overpromise. If something is tight, I’ll say it, but I’ll also find a way to make it work or offer a strong alternative. That honesty goes a long way.”
The Dockside Difference
What sets Dockside Management apart is its hands-on approach.
“We’re involved,” Kaitlyn emphasizes. “It’s not just emails and orders; we take ownership from start to finish.”
That level of involvement extends across departments, where constant communication ensures a fully integrated service offering.
“Everyone is aligned. That’s the only way to deliver at this level.”
An Evolving Industry
The demands of yacht provisioning continue to shift. Clients are more specific, timelines are tighter, and expectations are higher than ever.
“Everything is faster and more precise now,” Kaitlyn notes. “There’s less flexibility, which makes local knowledge and strong supplier relationships even more critical. Without that, you’re just guessing, and guessing doesn’t work here.”
Leading from the Front
As a team leader, Kaitlyn sets the tone through action.
“I’m in it with my team,” she says. “Everyone understands the standard, and we push each other to meet it.”
In such a demanding environment, certain qualities are essential: adaptability, composure under pressure, and sharp attention to detail.
“If you panic or let the stress get to you, you’re in the wrong role,” she adds.
The Reality Behind the Scenes
While the result may appear effortless, the process behind it is anything but.
“A lot more goes into this than people realize,” Kaitlyn says. “The goal is to make everything look easy, but that takes serious effort.”
If she had to describe her role in three words?
“Fast. Precise. Unforgiving.”
Looking Ahead
As Dockside is entering the low season and prepares for what is to come, Kaitlyn’s focus is clear: refinement and growth.
“We’re looking to take things to the next level: sharper, faster, more efficient. A big part of that is developing the team, pushing standards higher, and making sure everyone steps up. When the team improves, everything we deliver improves with it.”
Advice for the Next Generation
For those considering a career in yachting or logistics, Kaitlyn offers a straightforward perspective:
“Don’t expect it to be easy or glamorous. Pay attention, work hard, and be someone people can rely on when things get hectic—that’s what matters.”
